The Splendour of Arran Through the Medium of Visual Art
George Christie Goat Fell is the highest mountain on the beautiful Isle of Arran, which is located in the Firth of Clyde on the west of Scotland. At any time of the year the mountains of Arran stimulate the artist - this winter we had an unusual fall of snow which covered Goat Fell. The view just outside the main town of Brodick inspired this image of the mountain and its reflection in the nearby Glen Rosa burn.

George Christie Brodick is the main village on the Isle of Arran and a popular holiday spot. Brodick harbour receives the main ferry which connects Arran to the mainland via Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast.
Gordon Davidson The village of Lochranza, located on the northen tip of the Isle of Arran - on Loch Ranza, must be one of the most impressive sights on the island. It is surrounded by hills on three sides. On the seaward side, beside the loch stands the well preserved grey ruin of a 16th century castle. A regular ferry service between Lochranza and Claonaig on the Kintyre peninsula provides a short-cut to other parts of Western Scotland. Other attractions: Isle of Arran Distillery produces the Arran Single Malt - and Visitor Centre; Lochranza Golf Club; Caravan and camping site; Red deer are often seen around the village.
