REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is the massage of the reflex points in the hands or feet to bring
about a state of balance in the body.
A reflex is an involuntary response to a stimulus such as reflexology
pressure. The reflex action of an organ is caused by the electrical
impulses initiated by a stimulus.
Each organ in the body uses channels of energy to pass electrical
impulses. These channels of energy reach various points in the foot.
Reflexology ensures there is no congestion and therefore allowing energy
pathways to be clear so that corresponding parts work efficiently.
As there are subtle connections between the points in the feet and various
body parts, it is often common for symptoms of a condition to be recognised on
the feet before the condition shows in the rest of the body. An imbalance
in the system will show manifestations in the feet and conversely mistreatment
to the feet will be reflected on the corresponding body part. Sceptical?
If you know of any heavy smokers, have a look at their feet. They will
more than likely have yellow patches of hard skin in the lung areas of the feet
(fleshy part just under the middle three toes). And it's not a surprise to
find those who wear high heels regularly have postural/back problems...
Benefits of reflexology:
Improves circulation
Revitalises energy
Balances whole body system
Cleanses the body of toxins
Preventative health care
Reduces stress
Induces feeling of well being
Stimulates creativity and productivity
After a treatment, a 'healing crisis' may occur. This is normal and is
a good sign that the treatment is working and clearing the body. Most
people only experience mild symptoms. Some of the effects may be
feeling relaxed, sleepiness, headache, nausea, coldness, excessive mucous in
nose or sinuses, thirstiness, raised temperature, excessive energy, cloudy
urine, diarrhoea. Afterwards, the benefits are positive.
Aftercare:
Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins - avoid caffeine, alcohol and
smoking.
Rest after treatment - avoid stimulating exercise.
Avoid driving as drowsiness may occur.
Do not have aromatherapy treatment on the same day as the two treatments
combined may be too much for the body.
No heavy meal for 2-3 hours - let the body adjust.
Put on loose footwear for the feet to relax.
Recommended treatment plan:
Course of once weekly treatments for 4-6 weeks recommended for acute
conditions, then monthly maintenance.
Only grapeseed oil is used as this treatment.
